My name is Karen Peters, I am a single mom raising a daughter, It has been just the two of us for like 7 years. She is my rock and motivation to help and support others and value everyday the bond we have. I have been a local realtor for 17 years.

I grew up in Salem, OR, My parents were foster parents back in the early 70's. Since I was 5 years old, we had foster kids in our home. My parents were very involved in the community in supporting and raising funds for the help and need. When I was younger, we always had older (high school age kids), Then when I was in high school, my parents went to have younger, (elementary kids) then to infants. In my parents time of fostering they touched the lives of over 75 kids.

When I was younger, my parents always had us involved to be a family support of the kids coming in, some stayed for days, others for years. I always admired my parents for how involved they got to support and help a child feel safe. As i got older, the understanding of the impact they made in those kids lives when they were going thru some of their hardest days.

This is why being part of Salem Angels is so dear to my heart. Since the loss of both my parents, being a volunteer and supporter of Salem Angels in different ways always makes me feel my parents love and support is close, and they are my angels walking beside me thru life and take every step with me in my journey with Salem Angels.
