Dena was born in Portland, Oregon, but grew up in Bend, Oregon. She played college volleyball at Mount Hood Community College, and there she met her husband Jason. They both transferred to Southern Oregon University where Jason got a psychology degree and Dena got her Business degree in marketing. After graduating they moved to the East Coast, and in 1995 they returned to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. She is grateful to be able to experience both coast lines since they are so vastly different, but beautiful in their own ways. In 2000 their daughter Quincy blessed the family, and in 2002 their son Sawyer completed the family. Jason and Dena have known each other for 32 years and married for 26, and both kids attend George Fox University.
Dena has always had a passion for children, babysitting at a young age and after college being a nanny to pay off her college loans. Then as a mom of her own, she was always involved with the kids’ schools, part of the Boys and Girls Club, as well as Family Building Blocks. Not too long ago, Jason and Dena looked into fostering, but with Jason’s work and travel schedule, they found it impossible to find the time to take the required training classes. Now that both of their children are in college, Dena has been able to start looking at the next chapter in her life…..which lead her to Salem Angels. She is so excited to see where this journey takes her as she plays a role on our board, and is ecstatic to be working with children again as one of our very own Love Box leaders!
